A Note from Kevin

Well hasn’t 2026 started off on an interesting note. Our first quarter of 2026 has been a polarizing one for sure. Our team has had the opportunity to celebrate some fantastic wins but have also dealt with industry challenges like we have never seen before.

The construction industry as a whole is a bit of a crazy place at the moment. Market uncertainty is at a level similar to Covid times, costs have continued to escalate, red tape, bureaucratic challenges, and permit timing have continued to be roadblocks, and general worldwide chaos has caused consumer confidence to be lower than any period I can remember since starting in this industry. The work we do is not easy, and right now, it seems like pushing a boulder uphill while it’s on fire.

The above being said, we are incredibly proud of our ability to be resilient and adapt. Twin Lions has always prided ourselves on providing unrivalled value on whatever project we undertake, and the influx of work we have seen over the last few months reflect that and will continue to drive us forward into 2027. As we move into Q2 and Q3, we begin some truly exciting projects and our team is amped up for the challenge.

Along with some awesome new project starts, we have also continued to succeed for our current clients, enjoyed some great team moments, celebrated some fantastic achievements, and continued to build cool shit with cool people. Just check out the rest of this newsletter to see some of the fun stuff we have been up to. Especially excited for our Movember in June Golf Tournament on June 12th that sold out in under 48hrs. A hugely impactful event that supports men’s health that has started to build a pretty huge following. We truly appreciate all the support we have received so far. As we navigate this crazy industry, we look forward to what comes our way and are excited to meet the challenges head on. It’s going to be a fun year!

Project Spotlight: 24th Street

Things are moving along at our 24th Street laneway house in the City of North Vancouver! The concrete slab was poured, the roof is going on, and we are rolling through the framing stage.

This project is one of several laneway homes we’re preparing to take on in the coming months, as more homeowners explore ways to make better use of their properties. With evolving zoning regulations, laneway houses are becoming an increasingly viable option for adding flexible living space – whether for family, rental income, or long-term planning.

We’re looking forward to sharing more updates as this project continues to take shape.

Project Spotlight: Burnaby Heights

Burnaby Heights is continuing to take shape as we move into the finishing stages of the build. Exterior work is progressing with siding underway, and interior painting has recently been completed, bringing the home together in a meaningful way. We also completed a recent client walkthrough – and it’s safe to say the excitement is building as the vision becomes reality!

NorthVanNetZero: One Year Later

One year after completion, our NorthVanNetZero renovation continues to be one of the most exciting and meaningful projects we’ve worked on.

This high-performance renovation transformed an older North Vancouver home into a fully net-zero residence, dramatically improving energy efficiency while creating a comfortable, modern living space.

Projects like this demonstrate how thoughtful design, advanced building science, and strong collaboration can work together to reduce environmental impact while improving everyday living.

For our Burnage project, what started as a renovation quickly turned into something much bigger. The original post-and-beam home in North Vancouver simply didn’t offer enough potential, so the project evolved into a brand new Net-Zero Ready home with a mortgage helper to help offset the investment.

Built with a high-performance envelope, including ICF foundation, SIP panels, and triple-glazed windows, this home is designed for exceptional comfort, quiet living, and long-term energy efficiency. It’s also fully electric and ready for a future solar array.

Inspired by classic West Coast post-and-beam design, the finished home blends natural wood, light, and modern building science into a space that’s both sustainable and beautiful.
